Palmistry is the art of reading hands and predicting a person's future. This is a divination system that may seem complicated as it is based on reading the lines of the hands. Each hand has its own marks, lines and symbols and palmists need many years to know their meaning. Each area of the hand represents a sphere of life, from intellect, spirituality and brain power (fingers); the practical tasks and the balance between the various areas and roles we play in everyday life (middle of the palm) and money, security, impulses and instincts (lower part of the palm).
As in all Oracles, palmistry also follows the principle of free will: each one traces his own path and life is made of change. Also, the lines on the hand can change over the years. Thus, the reading is valid for that moment, in the present circumstances, not representing any fatality for the future.

The Origins of Palmistry
Hand line reading is a traditional practice in Eurasia. Its origins are believed to lie in Hindu Astrology, the I Ching, the Gypsy seers (people of South Asian origin), and Ancient India, with the work "Teachings of the Wise Valmiki on Human Palmistry" by the poet Valmiki.
After spreading through the cultures of ancient India, China, Egypt, Persia or Greece, palmistry was suppressed in the period of the European Middle Ages. Interest in this art resurfaced in 1839, with the publication of the book "Quironomia" by Casimir Stanislas D'Arpentigny. Later, Irishman William John Warner (1866 - 1936), popularly known as Cheiro, one of the best known and most popular seers among the personalities of his time, called attention to the art of palmistry which, since then, has never lost its popularity.
Palmistry is the practice of evaluating a person's personality or future life by reading their hand. A reading can also help identify future dangers. Based on this information, the person can decide which way to go or make decisions that lead to a different result.
Hand Line Reading Techniques
The lines of each hand are unique and exclusive. Still, knowing one or two of the hand's particulars can be quite revealing. The basic knowledge of palmistry associated with good intuition, is the basis to start your readings.
Hand reading encompasses two aspects: chirognomy (hand shape and characteristics such as length and shape of fingers and nails, patterns, fingerprints, skin texture and color, or shape and flexibility of the hand) and palmistry (lines, hills, stars, cross, grid, square, islands, cross lines and other palm marks).
Palmistry is based on the analysis of the various "lines" and "mounts" (Mount Jupiter, Mount Saturn, Mount Apollo, Mount Mercury, Mount Mars superior, Mount Mars inferior, Monte Moon and Mount Venus), which allows interpretations according to their relative size, qualities and intersections.
The main Lines (Life Line, Head Line, Heart Line and Destiny Line) are divided into temporal segments, which record past events and emotions.
Meaning of Left Hand and Right Hand
The right hand, active or dominant, if you are right-handed, reveals how you are using your abilities and is associated with the conscious mind. The left hand, or passive, shows the abilities you were born with and is often associated with the subconscious. If you are left-handed, the opposite applies.
Usually, the left hand (passive) reveals inherited traits, early and family influences, previous life (karma) and destiny. The right (active) hand reveals whether you are using or ignoring your natural aptitudes and abilities.
Typically, a palmist starts with the dominant hand as this tells what is manifesting in the person's life at the moment. Then it analyzes the other hand to see if it was born with any particular traits. By comparing the features and brands on both hands, it will see its future potential.
Each area of the hand can be linked to a deity and its respective area of influence. For example, the ring finger region is associated with art, music, aesthetics, fame, wealth and harmony.
The Lines of the Hand
The palm has four major lines and many minor ones as well as marks. Together, they reflect the events of life, the way you think, your relationships and your professional career path.
The four main lines of the palm are:
Life Line
It is the line of health and vitality, being the one that surrounds the thumb. On the left hand, it shows the inherited traits; in the right hand the way you deal with your family heritage. It starts at the top of the thumb and ends at the base of the palm.
Contrary to what most people think, the length of the Life Line does not indicate how many years you will live. It suggests strength, self-confidence, energy and good health when well-marked. A smoother, fainter line suggests less energy and more physical or emotional sensitivity.
Head Line
It's the line that indicates the way you think. In the left hand it shows the intelligence with which you were born; in his right hand, how you develop your thoughts.
The Head Line is the horizontal line that starts in the palm of the hand, on the side of the thumb and passes over, crosses or touches the Life Line.
A short Head Line denotes a focus on more practical and immediate matters and may reveal that you are currently focused on a specific area of your life that, for some reason, stands out above all others. A long line can be a sign of superior intelligence and a philosophical attitude towards life.
Heart Line
It is the line linked to emotions and relationships and is also known as the Line of Love or Line of the Table. In the left hand, it reveals your potential to love and to maintain your relationships. In the right hand it reveals how you developed that potential.
This is a horizontal line that runs through the palm of the hand and is above the Head Line. The Heart Line starts at the outer edge of the palm.
A strong line shows emotional security and stable relationships. A weak line suggests emotional insecurity and difficulty in relationships. The reading of the meaning of this line also varies depending on where it ends:
- At the base of the index finger - is a realistic, caring and practical person.
- Under the middle finger - is a passionate person, but who manages to be too serious and demanding in their relationships.
- At the base of the index finger - shows that you are a loyal and romantic person, but with a tendency to idealize a loving partner.
Destiny Line
It is the line linked to career and the course of life. In his left hand he reveals his career potential; in the right hand shows how you develop this potential. It is the vertical line that starts near the base of the hand and extends towards the middle finger.
A long Destiny Line that extends from the lines on the wrist to beyond the Heart Line reveals determination and willingness to overcome the obstacles of life, to go further. You have direct control over events and the direction of your life. A weaker line reveals career uncertainty. A more marked line on the left hand (if passive) than on the right (if active), denotes potential that has not been fulfilled.
